In the song "In Recognition" by Miss May I, they use excessive first person narration, sad and emotional tone and clear imagery to show the lyricism of this song.

The song uses a first person narrative to tell the story, "I miss the sight of the faces I know, their voices are the sounds that I cannot let go." The songs talking about him and how he misses his old friends and wants to see them again. It doesn't say Johnny misses anyone, but him or I. It tells the story of how he went away, leaving everything behind. And now he's missing what he left behind.

"These will not become memories, they will not be unfamiliar to me," Says the speaker. "these will not become because they are everything to me. Always the same." It sets the tone up to be a sad story. Well, this song in all doesn't appear to be a happy one, but maybe an uprising one. To some people the tone might be to help others think about who they're missing and how they should see them again. But that just proves that the tone could be set up for multiple reasons. Either way, its still a sad story to listen to and shows how if you miss someone, you should go out and find them.

The picture in this song is really clear in the fact that: "The sand surrounding my feet, drifting in the wind looking on the ocean as the waves roll by." The imagery shows me how he's just standing there on a beach looking out on the water. Or it could be just symbolism, but for this part, lets say its imagery because the tone of this song does match why he would be standing on the beach. Though out the song, the imagery follows the same, so you can really feel as though he's in a depressed area. Such as a beach because that's where you'll find some people when they're sad, at a beach, so it would make sense. The imagery is detailed enough so you can picture everything that's going on.

And so these three features are what makes up the song. They all mix together to form a great song that can teach you a lot if you pay attention to it. The lyrics will tell a story, like most songs and will show how the writers are feeling at the moments. This is why it made its way onto my list of Lyricism through metal. So go and listen to the song.
